Create A Cute Twitter Bird Character In Illustrator:-

1. Create a new document that's 500×500 pixels in Illustrator. Grab the ellipse tool and draw a circle while holding down the shift key (to keep the shape perfect). Next get the Direct Selection Tool, with the circle selected, click on a anchor point (that's the dots on the edges), then edit the shape.

2. Now put in the colours you want the bird to be.

3. Get the ellipse tool again, and draw a oval shape on top of the head. Make the gradient white > None.
4. Draw an oval shape for the eye using the ellipse tool. Using the Delete Anchor Point Tool remove the bottom part of the oval by clicking on the anchor point.  To put an outer glow on the eye go to Effect > Stylize > Outer Glow and put in the settings below.
5. Put a radial gradient (light grey to white) on the eye.
6. Duplicate the eye by selecting it, and dragging out while holding down the ALT key. On the duplicated eye draw a black circle (using the Ellipse Tool), and place it over the part of the eye you want it on. Select the 2 shapes and select the Intersect Icon in the Pathfinder window. Place the remaining shape over the eye.
7. Put a Radial (black to dark grey) gradient on the black shape.
8. Next select the two eye shapes while holding down the shift key, and duplicate using the previous method. With the duplicated eye layers selected go to Object > Transform > Reflect and put in the settings below. Once done move the eye to the other side of the face.
9. Draw a small white circle and place over the eye for reflection. Duplicate the circle and put it to the other eye. Hold down the shift key and select one of the eyes black & white circle, then hit the Minus front icon in the pathfinder window. Do the same step for the following eye.
10. Next draw a circle, then a Rounded Square (Rounded Rectangle Tool) holding down the shift key, rotate the square by selecting it with the Selection Tool and rotating. Select the circle and remove the bottom part of the shape using the Delete Anchor Point Tool.
Move the rectangle over the circle to create a beak shape, you may need to adjust the size of the shapes to make it fit. To turn the two shapes into one, select them both and click on the Unite icon in the Pathfinder window.
11. Now put the beak on the bird, and put in a gradient colour.
12. This step is Optional. Select the beak and go into Object > Envelope Distort and Make with Warp. Put in settings to your liking. If you do this step you can't change the colour after.
Next with the beak selected go into Effect > Stylize > Drop Shadow and put in the settings below.
13. Draw an oval shape and place it over the beak. Put a White to None Gradient on the oval and make the transparency 30% (Window > Transparency).
14. Again select the beak, go into Effect > Stylize > Outer Glow and put in the settings below.
15. Using the Rounded Rectangle Tool draw 2 shapes like below for the feet. Select the two shape and click on the Unite icon in the Pathfinder window to turn into one shape.
16. Next draw a rectangle shape over the end of the foot, select the two shapes and click on the Minus Front icon in the pathfinder window to remove the side of the shape. Grab the Ellipse tool and draw a circle on the side cut off, select the 2 shapes and this time click on the Unite icon to complete the foot.
17. Now place a gradient on the foot, and draw a leg using the rectangle tool. Select the two shapes and Unite icon in the Pathfinder window to make it one shape.
18. Now right click the leg with the selection tool, and go to Arrange > Send to Back, so it's behind the body. Using the pen tool draw some 'feathers' on top of the leg. Put in the same colour as the stroke on the body.
19.  Select the leg shapes, and duplicate. With the duplicated shape selected go into Object > Transform > Reflect. Place the leg on the bird.
20. For the wings, draw a square elsewhere on the canvas, remove the bottom right corner of the square using the Delete Anchor Point Tool. Draw 3 various sizes circles and place them over the shape until you can a nice looking wing. Select all of the shapes and click on the Unite icon in the Pathfinder window.
21. Make the wing the same colour as the body stroke colour and place it on the bird. Repeat step 19, but with the wing instead of the leg for the other side.
22. Using the pen tool draw a tall triangle shape, with the shape selected, make a warp on it using the Twirl Tool in the toolbar. I've made the curl smaller, and duplicated it. Place your twirl on the bird.
23. Lastly to create a drop down shape, draw a thin black oval shape under the bird. With the shape selected go into Effect > Blur > Gaussian Blur.

Step 01

Create a 700x700px document. Select the Ellipse Tool(L), hold Shift and create a perfect cirle as shown in image #1(about 350×350). Fill it with R=242 G=239 B=223 and add the Inner Glow shown below image #1. Next, add two new fills (from the drop down menu of the Appearance pallete) and use the gradients shown in images #2 & #3.Name this shape “Face”.

Step 02

Select the Ellipse Tool and create a shape like the one shown in image #1. Duplicate it and move this copy to the right (image #2). Group these two shapes(Ctrl + G). Select this group along with “Face”, pick the Selection Tool(V), click on the border of “Face”, then hit the Horizontal Align Center button from the Align pallete. Reselect the group and click on the Unite button from the Pathfinder pallete. Grab the Direct Selection Tool(A), select the Highlighted anchor point(image #5) and move it a few pixels up. Fill this shape with R=143 G=202 B=238 and add the Inner Glow shown in the image. Next, add two new fills and use the gradients shown in images #7 & #8.

Step 03

Select the Ellipse Tool(L) and create a squeezed ellipse like the one shown in image #1. Next, select the Rectangle Tool(M) and create a rectangle that intersect with the top half of the ellipse. Select both shapes and click on the Minus Front button from the Pathfinder pallete. Move the resulting shape between the other two shapes (in the Layer pallete), fill it with R=242 G=239 B=223 then add the Inner glow shown below image #3. Next, add two new fills and use the linear gradients shown in the last images.

Step 04

Let’s continue with the ears. Reselect the Ellipse Tool(L), create a squeezed ellipse (image #1), add the Inflate (Warp > Inflate) effect shown below image #1 then go to Object > Expand Appearance. Select the resulting shape, rotate it 30° (Object > Transform > Rotate), add the Arc effect shown below image #4 then once again go to Object Expand Appearance. The resulting shape is the shape of the ear.

Step 05

Select the shape created in the previous step, move it in the bottom of the Layers pallete (Shift + Ctrl + [) and place it as shown in image #1. Fill this shape with R=242 G=239 B=223 then add the Inner Glow shown below image #1. Add a new fill for this shape and use the gradient shown in image #2. Duplicate this shape. Resize this copy as shown in image #3, change it’s fill to R=176 G=214 B=227 then add the Inner Glow shown in image #3. Now, in order to create the other ear, duplicate these two shapes. Select these two copies flip them horizontally (you can do it manually with the Reflect Tool(O) or with Object > Transform > Reflect > Vertical) then place them as shown in image #4.

Step 06

Now, for the eyes, select the Ellipse Toll(L). Create a shape like the one shown in image #1, and move it below the blue shape(in the Layer pallete). Fill it with the gradient shown in image #1 and add a 10pt Inner stroke (R=230 G=231 B=232). Select the fill of this shape (from the Appearance pallete) and add the Inner Glow shown below. Next, select the entire path and add the Outer Glow. Reselect the Ellipse Tool(L) and create an ellipse like the one shown in image #2. Fill it with R=28 G=117 B=188 then add the Inner Glow shown below image #2 (don’t forget to check the Center button).

Step 07

Duplicate the two shapes that form the eyes (the big ones). Select the Ellipse Tool(L) and create a shape like the one shown in image #2. Select it along with the two copies and click on the Divide button from the Pathfidner pallete. From this newly created group keep only the shapes shown in image #4. Fill them both with R=143 G=202 B=238 and add the Inner Glow. Select the right shape, add a new fill and use the gradient shown in image #5. Next, select the left shape, add a new fill and use the gradient shown in image #6.

Step 08

Now, the nose. Pick the Ellipse Tool(L), create a shape like the one shown in image #1 and fill it with R=242 G=214 B=215. Select this new shape add the Arc effect shown in image #2 (Effect > Warp > Arc) then go to Object > Expand Appearance. Select this new shape, switch to the Direct Selection Tool(A), click on the bottom anchor point and move it a few pixels down. Add the Inner Glow shown in image #4 then add a new fill and use the gradient shown in image #5 (lower the opacity of this fill to 50%). Duplicate this shape. Reselect the Ellipse Tool(L) and create a shape like the one shown in image #6. Select this new shape along with the copy and click on the Intersect button from the Pathfidner pallete. Pick the Direct Selection Tool(A), select the bottom anchor point of the resulting shape and move it a few pixels up (image #8). Fill it with R=231 G=169 B=204 and lower it’s opacity to 10%.

Step 09

Let’s continue with the teeth. Select the Rectangle Tool(M) and create a shape like the one shown in image #1. Pick the Direct Selection Tool(A), select the bottom anchor points, switch to the Scale Tool(O), hold Shift then click and drag from the outside to the inside. Reselect the Rectangle Tool(M) and create a shape that intersect with the right half. Select both shapes and click on the Divide button from the Pathfinder pallete. Keep only the two shapes shown in image #3, fill them with R=255 G=255 B=255 add a 4.5px Rounded Corners effect then the Inner Glow shown in image #4. Select the right shape, add a new fill and use the gradient shown in image #5. Next, select the left shape, add a new fill and use the gradient shown in image #6. Reselect these shapes and group them (Ctrl + G). Select this new group and add the Drop Shadow effect shown in image #7.

Step 10

Once again select the Ellipse Tool(L), create a really squeezed shape and fill it with R=125 G=177 B=209. Create a copy and move it a few pixels down. Add the Arc effects (Effect > Warp > Arc) shown in image #2 then select both shapes and go to Object > Expand Appearance. Use these shapes to create a mustache like the one shown in image #3. Select the Ellipse Tool(L) and create five small circles (as shown in image #4). Move these circles below the shapes of the mustache and fill them with R=189 G=230 B=243. Don’t forget to lower the opacity of these shapes to 10%. Duplicate the shapes of the mustache and the circles. Flip these copies horizontally and move them to the left (image #5)

Step 11

Let’s add some discrete highlights for the eyes. Select the Ellipse Tool and create three ellipses like in image #1. Fill them with R=242 G=239 B=223. Duplicate these circles and move them over the left eye. Lower the opacity of these six shapes to 30%.

Step 12

Finally let’s add a discrete shadow and a simple background. Duplicate all the shapes created so far. Select these copies and click on the Unite button from the Pathfinder pallete. Move the resulting shape in the bottom of the Layers pallete (Shift + Ctrl + [), fill it with R=38 G=34 B=98, add a 15px Gaussian Blur and lower it’s opacity to 5%. For the background, select the Rectangle Tool(M) create a 700×700 shape and fill it with the gradiend shown below image #2.

Final

Now your goofy bunny is done. Here is how it should look like.
